Based on the book by Ariana Godoy, Marçal Forés' romantic drama presents an intricate teenage love story. Through My Window's realistic storyline is what makes it entertaining for a larger section of the audience. It convincingly depicts the awkward, sexually charged romance between Ares, played by Julio Pea, and Raquel, played by Clara Galle, in all its human-failing grandeur.
The first is an ordinary middle-class high school student who aspires to be a writer like his late father. The latter is a member of the wealthy Hidalgo family of entrepreneurs. Raquel has had a crush on Ares for some time now and has been working to gather whatever information she can find about him. Ares is well aware of this crush and plans to hack into her Wi-Fi network to start a conversation. Hacking that Wi-Fi password is at the heart of the tug-of-war between the two.
Despite the relatively young age of the characters, the author manages to reveal the complexity of both personalities. Galle's outstanding performance heightens Raquel's questioning well beyond her years. The writer within her tells her not to hook up with this neighbor, but she can't control her infatuation with him. In this difficult position, in which she often finds herself, exceptionally well. While Peña is less effective, the reluctance of Ares to admit his true feelings apart from the physical lust is adequately represented.
Through My Window is based on a simple premise at its core. Two teenagers seem to passionately fall in love. It starts bordering on obsession and changes very quickly after that. While one of them is not afraid to face all his feelings, the other remains cold and distant after physical intimacy For him it gives the impression that the whole business is just making love and throwing. Ares tries hard to convince himself that Raquel is just one of his long-winning streaks. Failing that, he tries to take care of his family's affairs; He is prepared to go into business with his brothers after studying at Stanford, but he has no time to engage in the confusing business of love, etc. His emotionless and stern father tells Ares, "Sleep with as many women as you want but don't mess with her."
